Whilst the Shark's season is about to have a break, we will be tweaking the website to get ready for next season. You may see that the fixtures and team info has now moved to the menu at the top. All last season's reports and photos will go by the end of July, so if you wish to save any now's your chance! The top stories and items of interest will be kept in the archive section.

England basketball have already published next season's fixtures if you wish to have a look www.englandbasketball.co.uk . We'll wait until for any changes before adding them here in early August.

For a lot of Sharks it's one more week before summer starts. Have a good break and keep safe, but don't lose too much fitness!

Sharks Hooked by England U18s

Current Sheffield Juniors Sharks’ player John Stewart and ex-Shark Devon Van Oostrum have now received formal notification that they are to take their places in the England U18 team for the upcoming European Championships to take place in Tel Aviv, Israel later this month. Both players who have featured in preparations during the year return from intensive training and two friendlies in Belgium this week to take part in The Future Stars Tournament that is to take place in Kingston upon Thames on July 9th, 10th and 11th. England U18s are pooled to play against Poland and Croatia on July 9th before the placement games over the following two days where they may play France and Sweden. The boys will have little time for rest after Kingston as they must return to the London area for a final training camp in Epsom just two days before boarding an early morning Heathrow flight to Tel Aviv. Devon and John will be in Israel from July 20th to August 2nd. Their Group C pool games in Division B includes competition against Israel, Denmark, Romania and Belarus. The EB website suggests that the coaches have gifted the Sheffielders with the same playing numbers that they have worn for England for the last two years.

An interview with Devon and his family about his first year abroad can also be found here,

Back British Basketball

You may have seen the banner at on the site and we ask that you click on it and find out more about the campaign to swell the support for the British Team in the lead up to the Olympics. One Shark's coach says " I confess that I was disappointed with the turnouts two summers ago for the previous qualifiers" so let's "organise the club to attend at least one game en masse". The 14th August game has been put forward as a target and there has been the offer of a mini bus. We understand individual teams are looking at their various options so players and supporters please get involved and try and get to a match. In a few years time it may be the current Shark's players who are after your support! Back British Basketball!

4th July 2010

The last action for Yorkshire was a match full of tension as eventually they were pipped to 7th place by the West Midlands and so settle for 8th. Another Basketball packed weekend and we hope that those that played both enjoyed it and displayed their abilities to the full.

This means an early start tomorrow morning to decide the 5th to 8th places starting at 9.00 am. Keep up-to-date with the day with our Twitter panel. Well done to all of the Yorkshire squad and best wishes tomorrow.
