SHEFFIELD SHARKS v NORTHANTS BALLERS

Q1Q2 Q3Q4 OT Final Score

Sharks 7 0 8 9 3 27

Ballers 3 4 10 7 2 26

In contrast to the first game where we were structured and following the game plan this game was a different story. Not sure if there was over confidence by beating Derby by 30 points in the first game or the fact we beat Northants by 17 earlier in the season but the Sharks seemed to be half asleep.

Lack of finishing really took its toll as this was the lowest scoring game the Sharks have played yet. With Marko getting 6 points and Sam VO getting 1 from 2 at the line this gave the Sharks the lead at 7-3. It was the good defending that saved this game.

Second quarter was the worst of the U13’s season as they failed to score a single point and Northants only scored 4. Going in to half time 7-7.

The third period saw a bit better play but still too many turnovers and missed shots with George’s trade mark 3 deserting him. One basket from George and Paddy and two from Marko gave us eight points but Northants scored 10.

Fourth quarter was a slight improvement from the Sharks with Marko, George and Dominic getting the points. This drew the scores at 24.

Overtime.

The Sharks found themselves in overtime for the second time this season. George got the only points of this period with a good three point shot. Northants next drive to basket saw them fouled and go to the line to convert both which took the score to one point lead for the Sharks. A last second error by the Sharks saw us get the ball stripped and Northants were off down court for an easy layup but the determination and speed of Marko saw this shot blocked giving the Sharks the win.
