First round of the playoffs saw 1st place Sharks v 2nd place Magic II. The tip was won by Marko who tapped to George who then took control of the game from start to finish. A nice assist to Marko bagged the first points of the game. Marko’s next drive saw him fouled but could not convert the two from the line. Again the Sharks attacked and George went in for a nice layup for his first points of the game. Jake and Ross were putting pressure on Magic on defence and again Sam T showed his fighting side under the basket getting the offensive rebounds. Getting fouled Sam went to the line and got 1 from 2. It was six minutes before Magic got on the score board with the Sharks being up by 15 at that point. Sam Baines was subbed on and did some good work under the basket and also got fouled but missed the 2 from the line. Jake’s determination managed to pay off with a basket for him in this quarter. Sam T, Marko, Ross and George bagged the rest of the points in this quarter with George hitting a 3 to finish.

More player rotation saw Alex, Xavier, Paddy and Nathaniel come on in this quarter. The pressure was kept on Magic and the Sharks were able to capitalise with Marko, George, Sam T, Jake and Dominic all scoring in this quarter. Sam VO came on and was fouled and he converted 1 from 2 at the line. All in all a good first half with the pressure applied paying off giving the Sharks a 46 to 20 score.

The second half started as we had finished with George bagging the first 2. Marko got the next basket with an And1 which he made giving him a 3 point play. Jake once again bagged another and Xavier being fouled but could not convert the 2 shots. George hit another 3 pointer with Sam VO and Sam B getting in on the act. During this period the Sharks were getting a little too confident and started playing as individuals and not sticking to the game plan. A time out was called and players were calmed down and told to stick to the plan. This seemed to work things did calm down and George was back in control. This was the only quarter Magic got close to us drawing it at 18 a piece.

Fourth quarter saw George get the first 4 points with Marko getting the next 4. Magic managed to get 1 from 2 at the line in the first 8 min before scoring a basket but by then it was all over. Jake, Sam B, George, Marko and 2 points from Alex sealed Magic’s fate.
