The Sharks started the 1st quarter on full throttle and within seconds Dennis charged to the basket just missing a score. On our next possession Dennis with some great interplay with Wesley made amends and put the sharks on the scoreboard. The next eight minutes saw the sharks with good defence and great pressure raced to 18-0. During the last minute the players sensed it was near the end of the quarter took their feet off the gas and allowed Leeds to score 7pts.
Within 3 mins of the 2nd quarter the sharks raced to 30-9. Confidence was now flowing in the team and the players were all calling for the ball. That quarter saw the Sharks at 42-21.
The 3rd quarter started just as the second finished with the Sharks firmly on top. It was during one of the many attacks that Tommy who was having a good game got hit in the eye and had to sit out the quarter. He was replaced by Marco who went on to score some very quick points. George also came on for Dennis and quickly put himself on the scoreboard. That quarter ended with the score at 74-34.
The 4th quarter saw the rampaging sharks completely destroy Carnegie with good defence and excellent interceptions by Lemar, coupled with strong offensive work by Dale who scored 14pts that quarter. With the score racing on Wesley got sharks over the 100 point mark. Dale and Lemarr rested the last five minutes to give the Michael and Sam a run out. Michael went on to score. The game finished with Sharks winning 109-44.
It was a credit to have Sam, Michael, George and Marco in the team and the U15’s appreciated their help.
Although the opposition may be considered a little weak, sharks played extremely well and worked hard as a team; a far cry from a week ago against Newcastle. The only negative was that they missed a hatful of lay ups during the game. One parent commented that if Sharks scored all the missed lay ups that would have been enough to have won the game alone.
The U15’s would like to thank Chris Darling for his assistance and for stepping in for Jan at last minute. We also send out kind regards to Jan and her family and hope her father has a speedy recovery.
