U16 Sharks vs Birmingham
Sharks 22 3853 77
Birmingham12 2745 67
Sheffield arrived in the midlands for their 2nd game of the campaign eager to improve on
their last performance in Nottingham. The Sharks started brightly despite missing Renny Nascimento. Improved movement on offense led to scoring opportunities led by Aidan’s outside shooting and George slashing to the basket. It wasn’t long before the visitors had a double digit lead. Birmingham however, are a well organised and tenacious outfit and were soon mounting a spirited comeback.
The game then followed a pattern of Sheffield stretching the lead to 11 for the home side to fight back to within 2 or 4 points before Sharks took it back to 11 again. Birmingham’s pressure defence was made to look good with some poor passing from the juniors and the fact that some new systems are being learnt limited the visitors’ capacity to put points on the board.
In the end, the Sharks were too strong for the home team but are a long, long way off from regaining the form that saw them crowned National champions last season.
