Sharks vs Cheshire Jets
Sharks 2029 4772
Jets 1222 3954
Cheshire visited the EIS for the penultimate fixture of 2009 and got off to a good start as the Sharks lack of defensive rotation gave them 8 easy points right from the off. Sheffield managed to re-focus themselves and were soon back in front through accurate shooting from Conor and Callum although the hosts could not seem to take advantage of the huge gaps in the Cheshire 2-3 Zone often forgotten. The Sharks went into halftime with a 29-22 lead in what had been a poor offensive performance.
A change in defence bought positive results early in the 3rd period and the hosts began to build a lead but a loss of Conor Faulkner early on (dislocated thumb?) and a loss of concentration saw the Jets again close the gap despite good work from Renny and Josh.
The final period was the Sharks best as they finally showed some intensity on both ends of the floor, Zach made a positive contribution off the bench as did the U15s; Dennis Dale, Lemar and Henryk found themselves on court together and did a good job defensively to hold Cheshire out.
In Summary it was another frustrating win despite a below par performance, a lack of energy and poor offensive execution seem to be the major issues. Sheffield will not continue to win games if we don’t find a way to play better.
