This was an upset-game that should never have happened. Many difficulties, quite sadly, came together in one place and at one time and Sharks lost as a result. The great pleasure, however, was the welcome contribution of Behre Tesfayohannes in the starting five in the absence of an ill Mykel Moodie. His game was great to see and his disciplined toughness and eleven points were appreciated by all. Also good to see was Jim Rose’s twenty two points. Not the place to over detail things here at this stage of the season - and hence a very brief report - the game was essentially lost by a lack of creativity and poor fundamentals, not least in defense. With John Stewart massively targeted for the entire game (forty minutes) it was with credit that he got the eleven points that he did. This ought never to have stemmed the Sharks’ play. Sharks are far better than this game displayed to the many spectators in the North West.
Sharks were down in players and missing the head coach and the Moodie statisticians in this game. In contrast Cheshire had a full complement. Disagreements with one of the officials clouded parts of the game which was a further sadness. The journey home was a dismal one for everyone concerned; not for the loss, but what had happened to allow it.
Thanks go to the Coach Andy Nagle, travelling supporters and Keith Faulkner and Helen Rose for helping fill the stats sheets with this writer.
